Hurricane Katrina Donations

If you want to make donations to support those affected by Hurricane Katrina, The Salvation Army is a charity I highly recommend. A lot of folks don't think about them other than when they see the bell ringers in front of department stores at Christmas time, but they are a great organization who help those in need year-round. They are asking for donations in their efforts to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

From a $100 donation they are able to do the following:

Feed a family of four for two days, provide two cases of drinking water, and one household cleanup kit containing brooms, mops, buckets, and cleaning supplies.

Make sure that you designate any donations for "hurricane relief" to insure they are earmarked for that purpose. They also provide assistance in finding loved ones here.

You can also donate at local Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores.

The donations page can be found here. They are offering five separate servers in an effort to handle the overwhelming response.
